Find your starting point

Which path fits you?

Choose an option to see how it works. A clinical assessment is still needed to confirm which will actually deliver the result for your teeth.

Discreet and removable

Clear aligners

A series of custom, near-invisible trays moves your teeth in small, planned steps. You wear each set for a week or two, swap to the next yourself, and take them out to eat, brush and floss — which is why many adults choose them.

Park Road Dental uses the Angel Aligner system. Your trays are made for your teeth from a digital scan taken at the practice, and the movements are planned and reviewed here before treatment starts.

  • Planned digitally from a scan of your teeth
  • Removable for meals, coffee and cleaning
  • Review appointments to check progress

Fixed and dependable

Traditional braces

Brackets and wires remain the workhorse for complex tooth movements, and because they stay on your teeth, results do not depend on remembering to wear anything. Tooth-coloured ceramic brackets are available where you want them to be less noticeable.

  • Suits a wider range of complex cases
  • Works around the clock — nothing to remember
  • Metal or less-visible ceramic brackets

Orthodontics for teens

Timing matters for growing smiles. We assess whether treatment is worth starting now or better left to settle, and we will tell you plainly if waiting is the smarter move. Reviews are scheduled around school, with evening and Saturday appointments available.

  • Honest advice on when to start
  • Aligners or braces, depending on the case
  • Appointments that fit the school run

How straightening works

Three things do the work.

Whether the tool is an aligner tray or a bracket and wire, the biology underneath is the same — gentle, sustained pressure that your body responds to.

  1. 01
    Gentle pressure

The aligner or wire nudges each tooth a fraction of a millimetre at a time, in a sequence planned before you start.

  2. 02
    Bone adapts

The bone around each tooth gradually remodels to its new position — the reason treatment takes months, not days.

  3. 03
    Retainers hold it

Teeth drift throughout life, so retainers — usually worn at night — keep the result once treatment finishes.

What happens, in order

Five stages, one clear path.

Stage 1 · First visit

Consultation

We examine your teeth and bite, talk through what bothers you about your smile, and explain whether aligners, braces or neither is the right tool.

If treatment is not worth starting, we say so plainly.

Records taken in the chair, in minutes

Stage 2 · Records

Digital scan and records

A handheld scanner builds a 3D model of your teeth — no moulds. Photos and any needed X-rays complete the records.

The scan becomes the base for your whole treatment plan.

Stage 3 · Decide

Your written plan and quote

We map the planned tooth movements and the expected timeframe, then give you a written, itemised quote to take home.

Nothing starts until you have seen the plan and the cost.

Stage 4 · The long middle

Treatment and reviews

You wear each aligner set for a week or two, or your braces are adjusted at visits, while your teeth move step by step.

Regular reviews keep the plan on track, with evening and Saturday appointments available.

Stage 5 · Keep it

Retainers

Teeth drift throughout life, so retainers — usually worn at night — hold your new alignment once treatment finishes.

We plan retainers with you from the start, so there are no surprises at the end.

If you searched for Invisalign

Looking for Invisalign in Cheltenham?

The straight answer first: we do not provide Invisalign. We use the Angel Aligner system instead. Both are clear aligner systems — they move teeth with a series of custom-made, removable clear trays planned from a digital scan — and both are used for similar concerns around crowding, spacing and bite. The difference is the manufacturer, not the idea.

So if you came here searching for Invisalign, what you are really looking for is clear aligner treatment, and that is something we provide in Cheltenham. At your consultation we scan your teeth, show you what the movements actually involve, and tell you plainly whether clear aligners will get you the result you want or whether braces are the better tool for your case. If the case needs specialist orthodontic care, we will say so and refer you rather than treat it here.

What is the same

Removable clear trays changed in sequence, planned from a 3D digital scan taken at the practice, worn around 22 hours a day, with retainers afterwards to hold the result.

What is different

Angel Aligner is a different manufacturer, with its own tray material and planning software. Which system suits a case depends on the tooth movements needed — we go through your own plan with you before you commit to anything.

Your dentists

Who provides your orthodontic care.

Your treatment is assessed and supervised by our AHPRA-registered dentists. Principal dentist Dr James Lee provides aligner and braces treatment, backed by the digital planning workflow the practice is known for, and Dr Dayana Gonzalez has a special interest in orthodontics and carries out much of the practice’s clear aligner and braces treatment. We are equally honest about what we don’t do: if your case is complex enough to need specialist orthodontic care, we will tell you at the consultation and point you in the right direction rather than talk you into treatment that isn’t right for your teeth.

Before you decide

Clear costs. Clear clinical information.

What it costs

Fees vary with the complexity of the case, the treatment method and the expected treatment time. After an assessment and digital scan, you receive a written treatment plan and itemised quote before deciding whether to proceed. All major health funds are accepted and claimed on the spot.

Things to consider

Aligners only work while they are worn — around 22 hours a day. Some complex movements remain better suited to braces. Whichever tool is used, retainers are needed afterwards, and treatment is measured in months, not weeks.

Common questions

Clear aligner and braces FAQs

Do you offer clear aligners in Cheltenham?

Yes. Park Road Dental provides clear aligners at 155 Park Road, Cheltenham, for teens and adults. We take a digital scan of your teeth to plan treatment, then supply a series of custom, near-invisible aligners that you wear and swap yourself, with review appointments to check your progress.

Clear aligners or braces — which is better for me?

It depends on your case. Clear aligners are discreet and removable, which many adults prefer, while fixed braces can suit more complex tooth movements and younger patients. At your consultation we assess your teeth and bite and explain which option fits your goals, lifestyle and budget.

How long does treatment take?

Treatment time depends on how much your teeth need to move, so minor corrections finish sooner than complex cases. Many courses run somewhere between several months and around two years. After assessing your teeth we give you an estimated timeframe and a schedule of review appointments.

How much do clear aligners cost?

The cost depends on how complex your case is and how long treatment takes, so an aligner course differs from full braces. After a consultation and digital scan we give you a clear, written quote with no surprises. All major health funds are accepted on the spot.

Will I need retainers after treatment?

Yes — after any orthodontic treatment, aligners or braces alike. Teeth naturally drift throughout life, so retainers (usually worn at night) hold your new alignment. We include retainer planning in your treatment discussion so there are no surprises at the end.

Are clear aligners as effective as braces?

For many common problems — crowding, spacing, mild bite issues — yes, when worn as prescribed. Some complex tooth movements remain better suited to braces. We assess your teeth first and recommend whichever will actually deliver the result, and we will say so plainly if aligners are not the right tool.

Do you offer Invisalign?

We use the Angel Aligner system rather than Invisalign. Both are clear aligner systems that straighten teeth with a series of custom-made removable trays planned from a digital scan. Which system suits a particular case depends on the tooth movements needed, and that is discussed with you at your consultation before any treatment is agreed. If you have already started aligner treatment elsewhere, bring your records and we will review where things stand.

Can adults have braces or clear aligners?

Yes. Adults are treated as well as teenagers, and there is no upper age limit provided your teeth and gums are healthy. Adults often prefer clear aligners because the trays are discreet and removable, though fixed braces are sometimes the better tool for the movements involved. Because adult teeth more often carry fillings, crowns, bridges or implants, and because gum health matters more, we assess all of that at the consultation before any treatment is planned.
